Solving Crimes and Writing Songs in the Mystery Machine

The Lynch family have bee travelling the world in support of David’s (father) musical career.  Travelling with three teens, they have documented their travels on their website lynchfamilyadventure.com.
We asked them to write a few words about their trip they did in our Mystery Machine camper for less than the cost of a scooby snack! Here’s what they had to say:
We had a great time driving the Wicked Mystery Machine from Barcelona to Amsterdam.  The smiles we received were priceless and it seemed that no matter what country we were in someone would yell “Scooby Doo!”  We were able to camp and there was enough room for all of our stuff!
We got to Amsterdam on Queen’s Day (unbeknown to us) which is a huge party throughout the country. It seems to basically consist of drinking, selling your old stuff in front apartment and wearing orange…that is why we’re wearing the goofy orange hats.
Thanks Wicked!  You really added to our Lynch Family Adventure.

Losing Our Shit, The Wicked Way!

Our trip started in London we set off and drove down to catch a ferry to the top of France. Our first stop was Paris, we spent one night on the side of the road then arrived the next day. We only spent the day there to see the Eiffel tower then left that night to head towards the west coast.

We drove down the west coast stopping off at beaches drinking and partying all the way down to Bilbao were we went to the Bilbao festival. We spent 3 days there, it was amazing good times!!

On the Road with Road Runner

We managed to pick up Road Runner earlier than scheduled and headed up the north of England towards Edinburgh. We stopped off in York for a night and found a great free camp spot by the river in the middle of town. We spent the next morning wandering the cobbled streets and the walls of the city. We then made our way to Scotland and arrived Edinburgh which was a stunning place. Checked out the castle and the city for the day and then gapped to over the lochs. From there we made our way to back into England and stayed in the lakes district which was really nice then headed for wales where we had a night in Cardiff. From there we checked out Bath and Stonehenge.

We then made our way to Dover and headed to France, we arrived to stifling heat and drove straight to Paris. Three days in Paris didn’t really do it justice but we had an amazing time wandering around and seeing the sights. The Louvre and the Eiffel tower at night were amazing. We hit the coast heading down through Royan and down to Bayonne where we just drove through but we stopped in Biarritz for a few hours. It was a really cool place with nice beaches and the city sitting right above them. It was like an old coastal seaside village in a city with heaps of old buildings right on the cliffs and around the water. We stayed that night a few beaches down the coast, we cooked dinner on the beach which was real nice. From there to make our way into Spain for running of the bulls. What an experience, just being there was incredible let alone been involved with whole thing.

A Coupla Queenslanders Cruising Europe in a Camper

As the sun was setting on our 3 ½ year stay, living and working in the UK (London and Edinburgh), it was with great excitement our thoughts turned to the 90 days we had in front of us – what was to be our most life-changing trip through a European summer.

Not twelve months earlier, Renee and I had our first ‘Wicked Van’ experience with a 5-day excursion in Northern Ireland.  We had of course heard of Wicked Vans as they were a common sighting along our home Eastern coast of Australia, but had yet to cocoon ourselves in one.  The idea of camper-van living has always appealed to us and after making a few inquiries with the most helpful Julie, our Northern Ireland trip was booked.

I can think of no better way to experience a new country than having your home on wheels and our ‘Jellybean’ painted Wicked Van did not disappoint.  Everything we needed within arms reach (literally!) and once we acclimatised to the cabin fever; our home away from home became a magic part of a wonderful stay.  At 30-something years of age, this was both our first time ‘camper-vanning’ and was a taste of things to come.

The Adventures of Ren, Stimpy and Nancy The Navigator

Devon and Lucy set off from Christchurch to London on June 20th 2012. When we arrived, we joined both Rhodal and Ally to begin our overseas adventure!

London was very good to us being spoiled for entertainment such as museums, partying at the zoo, Tate modern art gallery, fabulous markets and plenty of musicals!!

After a week of adventures we met our 5th traveling companion Nickolia, picked up our very “Wicked” Camper van and headed towards the White Cliffs of Dover.

Unfortunately the five of us seemed to lack any sense of direction and urgency for that matter and managed to miss our ferry after hours of struggling to find our way out of the city. Fortunately we were put back on track after the help of our best purchase – NANCY THE NAVIGATOR!!
